Flex Builder is now free for not only students and educators but also for those who are currently unemployed! If you fall into this category – my sympathies – but hopefully by learning Flex you can get a job again soon. And since the Flex job market is super hot, getting a new Flex job shouldn’t be too hard. :)
All you need to do is go to freeriatools.adobe.com and (honestly) fill out the information. I hope this helps get you on your feet again!

Hi, James
Great news for flex developers~
I think this would make my flex book to be sold more :)
It was sold more than 13,000 in korea.

This is another example of why I love Adobe as a company. They realized that releasing Flex for free to the unemployed is a win-win situation.
Nice, but you can’t sell anything you develop with it…
I attest that the following statements are true:
1) I am not currently employed or being paid to develop software applications or web pages
2) Adobe Flex Builder 3 Software I receive under this program is for my personal use to learn about Adobe Flex and improve my skills
3) My license to use Flex Builder 3 under this program will not be used for production or commercial purposes, nor will it be transferred to any other person or entity, including to my employer should I become employed.
That is a great move Adobe. Good luck to ya all. Decent flex developers are VERY HARD to find.
What an excellent way for Adobe to help developers who are down on their luck. Very well done, guys. Congratulations!
Hi Jeremi,
It’s really intended to help developers learn Flex while they are unemployed. If a developer is selling something that they built with Flex Builder then hopefully they can afford to pay for the license.

@James I would agree, but if you dont have money to buy the IDE, but you develop a great app using FB that you can’t sell, then how are you ever to make money :)
I know why they put that in there, just seems like a funny catch 22.
Free Flex Builder is great – Thanks Adobe!
There is a link also for free 60 days of 5x Flex books on Safari Online, but that has a catch. It requires that we enter credit card information and consent to being charged $9.99 a month if we forget to cancel within 60 days. Not really interested in something else to keep track of :-) I tried to skip entry of my credit card info, but no luck.
I’d suggest Adobe should ask Safari Online to tweak their otherwise very nice offer.
James – thanks for informing us about the free FB offer!
