My all time favorite journalist, Robert X. Cringely, has just published his weekly PBS article, this time discussing the future of Adobe’s platform technologies. It’s a great read and great press for our (Adobe) platform. Let me know what you all think about his opinions.

what a shame that the article came out at the same time that the iPhone is announced that it will NOT run Flash (nor FlashLite).
the best thing I can see Adobe doing is to support Apple. What’s the point in developing x-platform apps with Flex and AIR when all there is Windows to deploy to?
If Adobe are serious about (at this current moment) pushing x-platform for Flex and AIR solutions then they need to eat their own dogfood:
- Flash everywhere: cool new devices, Linux, you name it: make it invisible.
- support OS-X versions of Authorware, Captivate, etc.
- walk and chew gum: don’t roll stuff out too-late by too-late.
- Get Bruce Chizen to earn his keep in talking to the people that matter (like Steve Jobs). this iPhone debacle should never have hapened.
I’m banking my future on Adobe’s vision. Is this a fair gamble or should I give up now and go back to VisualStudio and WPF/WPFe?

Hi James,
A couple of us are starting to use Flex and would like to build some widgets using Flex. Are there any white papers or resources to learn how to build widgets in Flex? Thanks in Advance.
