Video: Desktop RIAs on Linux with Adobe AIR 1.5

Adobe recently announced the release of Adobe AIR 1.5 for Linux! For us Linux users this is huge! Now desktop RIAs with Adobe AIR work the same on Windows, Mac, and Linux! I recorded a short instructional video that shows how to get it working.

(Original video size is 1024 x 768 so you might want to open it in a new window or tab.)

Hi James, great video. Installing the Adobe Air runtime is really as easy as going to the adobe air marketplace and selecting the application you want and it’ll install the air runtime aswell using the auto-install badge (all if you’ve got the latest flash player). But the story does get a little bit different on 64-bit linux using the 64-bit flash player plugin, after installing adobe the air runtime on ubuntu using adobe how-to going to the marketplace, the install badge doesnt load like there’s no flash player installed, but downloading the *.air file and launching it from the desktop worked like a charm and the air application runs fine. Seems like the install badge is not yet compatible with the 64-bit version ?

What version of Flash Player are you using?
