		<description>one thing that&#039;s missed in the x-platform capabilities is the fact that it becomes more robust a platform as a result. It has to work under all sorts of adverse conditions, and while that&#039;s hard work for the runtime developers, and you miss out on enhanced platform-specific capabilities, x-platform makes better solutions in the long run.

example: the XMLHTTPRequest javascript object had been available for years for IE only. It took the take up of Mozilla and Safari for it to become the ubiquitous Ajax.
