Today I’m at Oracle OpenWorld watching a number of keynotes and sessions and I’m seeing Flex EVERYWHERE! First up was the Monday Keynote with Charles Phillips where Oracle demonstrated a new Flex based MetaLink. Back when I was a DBA/SysAdmin/Programmer I had to use MetaLink to get support from Oracle. Working with the interface was like a trip to dentist. Not fun. Well, today Oracle demonstrated the new version of MetaLink built with Flex. It looks great and using it is like a trip to the day spa. Great job Oracle! Here’s a photo of the new interface courtesy of Todd Ruhl:

There are many more Oracle applications being demonstrated over the next few days that were built with Flex. Stay tuned for more photos and announcements. This is only the tip of the iceberg!

Haha and I know you love spa :)
BTW! Good to see that more and more companies are realizing the usefulness of Adobe Flex/Flash platform.

I work with Oracle since 1994 as DBA and Developer and since last year we moved from Java Swing to Flex (using Oracle XML DB as the backend). It is hard to NOT use Flex, presentation is very important and Flex is really easy to use and code. We are very happy that Oracle saw this too, we can only gain by this.
Don’t forget Oracle Application Express (APEX), it uses Flash for diagrams :-)
That’s a great news. Thanks James.

Congrats James, this is great news. Flash/Flex makes lot of sense for many of these enterprise applications.
