we love the display shelf component and looking for someone to help us out.

we can make a donation if you can adopt this component to what we currently have (videos in our help section, so the displayshelf works as-is and users can select an image then click to watch video)

anyone available to help us out?

i can provide more info when contacted.

Hi James,
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure exactly how to make that change. Is this a flex issue or something to do with turbogears. Which file would i need to change to tag on the label for the image?

Hi Mike,

I think the default itemRenderer is an Image. You can create a custom itemRenderer which could be a Canvas which contains an Image and a Label. Make sense?

Hi. First off thank you for this find and the widget, its a definite plus for a project i'm working on. I was just wondering if there is an easy way to incorporate a caption for each picture as I scroll through the display shelf. any ideas or comments (either on here or by email) would be appreciated.

thanks

That should be possible. Are you using Flash CS3? If so you will want to look into the Flex Component Kit for Flash CS3:
http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Flex_Component_Kit_for_Flash_CS3

I hope that helps.

Hi James,

I really liked your tutorial on how to integrate turbogears with Flex. However, rather than using the Flex form objects, I would like to use Flash graphics in Flex, but populating the flash object (i.e. a text field) with text from Turbogears.

Is there a way to do that, and if so could you point me to some info on that?

Thanks!

Hi WebGyver,

Glad you found it useful. There is tons of good info about Flex at http://www.flex.org

As far as TurboGears, I'm not sure. I went to the TurboGears Jam and learned all that I know. :)

James,

Where in the world have you been all my life? No, seriously, I just barely stumbled upon your BLOG (by way of doing a search for FLEX on Digg.com) and am positively surprised at all the good stuff in which you're involved.

As an absolute newbie to TurboGears and all the cool stuff you guys are doing, where can I find a 101 on all of this?

Cheers,

WebGyver (aka Dee)
