Flex at JavaPolis – “Umm That’s Sexy!”

Christoph Rooms and I have been showing off Flex all week at JavaPolis. Everyone is loving it! Check out the crowd of people watching demos and winning shwag (click the image below to see more pictures from JavaPolis):

Also we have had numerous people blogging about Flex at JavaPolis:

This week at the conference Jon from BEA even built a Flex app with vi and the free Flex SDK! Nice work Jon!

Last night Christoph and I built a little Flex app with Ely Greenfield’s FishEye component, to show all the people who have visited our booth:

If you are at JavaPolis, we are having two more sessions on Friday:

We’d love to meet you and show you some sexy demos! Please stop by the Adobe booth, get a free t-shirt, and be Flex’d!

    James:
Did you get the Flex posters, and can we have the code for the Flex app that shows everyone at the booth? That looks great!

Yes, the posters were a huge hit! Gone in minutes! Christoph Rooms will be doing something to allow the same application to be used at future conferences. He has all the code, so you can contact him.

    Hi James,

I am trying to use the Fisheye component on Flex 3 AIR, and am having a lot of trouble. Do you know of an updated version of the component, or what I need to change to make it compatible with Flex 3?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Christina,

It should just work since there were very little changes between Flex 2 and Flex 3 that would impact this. However you might want to post on Ely’s blog with the details of the problem. Here is his original post:

    Hi there!

First of all, thumbs up on the wonderful component. It’s wonderful. But I’m having a little problem and I can’t seem to fix it.

The problem I’m having is adjusting the number of thumbnails (FishEye Items) to be displayed as the application size is resized. It works well when increase the size of the application but a certain problem occurs when resizing it down.

I wanted to contact the coder directly. Which will be the best place to post the complete query with the code excerpt?

    Hi Fawad,

Probably the best thing to do is to contact Ely on his blog. He wrote the component and can probably best help.
